Starry Western Night

Art for the Mountain Community has two major annual fund-raising activities. One is a letter to previous donors, signed by members of the Board, which is sent out each Spring. The other is a fall event at the Evergreen Lake House, "A Starry Western Night", which includes a silent and live auction of art works, wine and beer, a western dinner, and dancing to a western band.

Some of the featured artists at "Starry Western Night" in the past were Gary Sohnweid, whose work includes scenic paintings and colorful paintings of old trucks; Anita Mosher, who piants Landscapes and florals in oil; Andy Baird, who is Conifer High Schools art instructor and a master ceramist; Wiliam Matthews, internationally-recognized for his watercolors of Western cowboys and landscapes; Cheryl Price, a landscape painter and Nikolo Balkanski, a highly acclaimed painter.

2004 Starry Western Night

Nationally recognized local artists will be featured this year at "Starry Western Night", the annual fund-raising event for Art for the Mountain Community. Scheduled for Saturday, November 6 at 6:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Lake House,The event will have 5 "Featured Artists" showing and offering for sale their most recent work representing a wide variety of mediums from painting to sculpture and clay work.  Willy Matthews, nationally known water colorist is a perennial featured artist at this event.  A tantalizing silent auction features over 60 selected works of artistic excellence as well as other intriguing items.  The evening will feature a dinner catered by the well known restaurant 240 Union and a unique musical cabaret show specially tailored for the event by Lannie Garrett, 5280 Magazine's editor's choice as best vocalist in the Top of the Town Issue 2003.

Art for the Mountain Community’s popular "Heart of Evergreen" Sculpture Walk continues to draw art lovers to Evergreen’s downtown area with its third annual display of sculpture. Art for the Mountain Community was organized in 1995 to place art in public places. All of the sculpture is for sale.
